Company of the Wolves Guild guidelines

Company of the Wolves is a casual guild that enjoys various aspects of the game. We run instances from 5 mans all the way up to 25 man raids with alliances with other guilds. We take pride in the fact that we are seen as a honorable and trustworthy guild within the greater Blade’s Edge community. To this end, the officers have decided to post a listing of actions that are worthy of discipline and possible guild removal. Some actions will merit a warning while others will merit an immediate removal from the guild. Other potential punishments are restricted access to the guild bank, and demotion. After the first warning, guild removal is at the discretion of the officers.

CoWs is a guild with many members spanning many ages. We strive to keep the guild as friendly of an environment as we can for all ages. If you wouldn’t say it in front of a 12 year old don’t say it in guild chat. We also use ventrilo voice software for communications both casual and for raid coordination. Vent is a PG13 environment, while an occasional curse word will not get you reprimanded, the F bomb or similar words should not make up the bulk of your vocabulary.

Warning items:
• Profanity within guild chat
• “Flame” wars within guild chat
• Repeated Begging for runs for a lower level alt (Try LFG first, if not successful ask ONCE in guild. If you don’t get an answer, don’t get upset. We all have our own games to play. Try the forums to set something up for lower level alts.
• Gold begging, both within guild or via General or Trade channels. You get one warning for this. We occasionally sponsor free repair weekends using guild bank funds.
Trade "Trolling": Profanity or Flame wars within trade chat are unacceptable. If you feel strongly enough about a subject to use stronger language, do it in a whisper with your opponent.

Removal offenses:
• Harassment:
o Company of the Wolves is a safe environment for all. We do not tolerate harassment of any type from or of any of our members. If you are being harassed, bring it to the attention of an officer. Let them deal with it.

• Direct and purposeful insult to other guild members. Disagreements some times happen. However, personal insults will absolutely not be tolerated.

• “Ninjaing” loot.
o Abusing the Need before Greed rules in runs. If you need something ask before needing it. Most of the time you will be more than welcome to take it. If someone else needs it also, then don’t get upset about it.
o Abuse of Master Looter to ignore /rolls to give loot to someone else. .
o Rolling on an item with the intention to pass to someone else if you win said roll.
o Rolling on an item with the intention to auction it off within raid/group.

• Theft of Items from Guild Bank.
o Items in the Guild Bank are for your USE. Items are not to be vendored, or sold on the auction house, or sent to unguilded alts. Any items that are resold or not used are considered stolen and will be treated accordingly. Some items may be disenchanted, but the guild bank should receive any materials left from the disenchanting process. This can only happen at the discretion of the officers.

Guild Auction House

As we adventure through Azeroth, we sometimes come across valuable items that we wish to share with our guildies. So we will make these available in the guild auction house tab. The rule for this is that these items are available for half of the going rate in the Alliance Auction house. The items can only be removed by an officer and will be traded upon recipt of the funds agreed upon.

Raiding

Many of the members of the Company of the Wolves enjoy “raiding”. For those unfamiliar, with the term, Raids are max level, larger instances than the normal 5 player dungeons. These can consist of anywhere from 1-14 boss encounters and quite a bit of trash. The time involved typically is 3-4hrs/day and 2-3 days a week, but can be shorter or longer. These dungeons also have improved loot and many emblems. These encounters have both 10 and 25 man versions. Currently, CoWs does not have the participation necessary to field a 25man guild only run so we sometimes pair up with other guilds to run these.

Raiding is a team sport. In a 10 man instance, you will usually have 2 tanks, 5-6dps and 2-3 healers. All must do their job in order to succeed. Along with this comes increased complexity in regards to assignments and coordination. A Raid Lead will coordinate the group in its makeup and throughout the encounter. The Raid Lead is the final arbiter of strategy and tactics and also personnel decisions. Raid signup can be done either thru the ingame calendar or the use of the guild forums. This will be done at the discretion of the Raid Leader. Occasionally we have too many people sign up for raids. If this is the case the raid lead will have a stand by list to be pulled from if people do not show up or have to leave early.

In a Raid, the Raid Lead and his assistants take precedence over guild officer rank. If there is a problem with something in the raid, such as too much time between pulls, lack of focus, or some thing else within the raid that you feel is detrimental to the success of the raid, bring it to the attention of the raid leader.

Guild officers: If a raider whispers you with a concern relating to the raid that is currently underway then relay that to the raid lead. Do NOT make a decision that could affect the raid composition or morale without clearing it with the Raid Lead first. In a Raid, you are just another member unless otherwise designated.

Behavior of raiders:

A certain level of decorum and behavior is expected within raids. Although you are playing a video game, when in a raid you are playing it with 9-24 other people who are doing their best to accomplish a shared goal with you. We tend to forget this since most of us play in our own house. Treat this like you would your soccer, softball, etc team or your poker night.

If you sign up, make an effort to be there. In fact, be there a little early. If you cannot attend after signing up, please let someone know ahead of time, that way a replacement can be found. If you cannot stay for the scheduled duration of the raid, please consider carefully if you wish to sign up. Finding a replacement may be difficult.

Leaving before the scheduled end of the raid: Real life is more important the WoW, we all get that. However, if you consistently sign up for a raid and have to leave early, then you are doing a discourtesy to 9-24 of your friends. This will be looked at by the officers and raid leads and may lead to your being placed upon standby for the next scheduled raid. (See list of Raid infractions below)

Courtesy: All raiders are expected to show a basic level of courtesy to each other. As we tackle newer and harder content, wipes will be frequent and frustrating. It is easy to point fingers at someone and spout off something in frustration that you would wish to take back later. If a wipe happens, dust yourself off and try again. If wipes happen repeatedly, then the raid lead may ask for input on areas of improvement. Phrase these in a constructive manner. “Ranged dps needs to wait for correct boss postioning before opening fire” “Healers need to watch for a certain Debuff or spellcast”. If there is a problem with a single individual’s performance, notify the raid lead or one of the assistants in a whisper.

Raid infractions. Repeated violations of these guidelines may result in being placed on standby for the next signed up for raid.

Sign up but do not show up for raid
Show up but late
Attend raid but leave early
Abuse/Criticism of another player
